I know a few Jesuits and they're quite progressive folk who are all for changes within the church and all that good stuff. Unfortunately this guy is relatively pretty conservative, though that's not really a surprise. They're hardly going to elect a very liberal gay-loving Pope right now.

If you wanna know some of the highlights of historical Jesuit madness, you can read Huxley's The Devils of Loudun, or if you'd rather read fictional stuff, give Shusaku Endo's books about Jesuit's evangelization in the East a go. They're often seen as less conservative than other orders, but they're in fact known to have been for centuries nuts and manipulators ::)

^All I knew about Jesuits was that they tried to get teen boys to play basketball instead of have sex.  :-\
